Marc jacobs

Marc Jacobs (born April 9, 1963 in New York City) is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs is currently the Creative Director of the prestigious French design house Louis Vuitton. Jacobs attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City and graduated in 1981. He lived in Teaneck, New Jersey with his mother, sister and younger brother, and attended Teaneck High School. At fifteen, Jacobs worked as a stockboy at Charivari, an avant-garde clothing boutique in New York City. From there, Jacobs entered the Parsons School of Design in New York City. During his tenure at Parsons, Jacobs won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award in 1984 and in the same year was also awarded the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year Award. While still at Parsons, Jacobs designed and sold his first line of hand-knit sweaters. He designed his first collection for Reuben Thomas, Inc., under the Sketchbook label. Following his studies at Parsons, Jacobs began to design at Perry Ellis (Ellis had recently died, so he wasn't there). Jacobs became prominent on the fashion scene when he designed a "grunge" collection for Perry Ellis, leading to his dismissal in 1993. With Robert Duffy, Jacobs formed Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc., which continues to this day. In 1986, backed by Onward Kashiyama USA, Inc., Jacobs designed his first collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label. In 1987 Jacobs was the youngest designer to have ever been awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. Jacobs and Duffy joined the women's design unit of Tristan Russo in 1989 as Vice President and President, respectively. In addition, Jacobs oversaw the design of the various women's licensees. In 1992, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, once again bestowed Jacobs with a great honor: The Women's Designer of the Year Award. In 1994 he produced his first full collection of menswear. Jacobs is a prominent fixture in the New York City celebrity scene, having become something of a celebrity himself. The audience for his fashion shows typically includes celebrities like Kim Gordon and Vincent Gallo. Most of his collections make references to the fashions of past decades from the forties to the eighties. Disputing the claim by the designer Oscar de la Renta that Jacobs is a mere copyist, the New York Times Critic Guy Trebay has written "unlike the many brand-name designers who promote the illusion that their output results from a single prodigious creativity, Mr. Jacobs makes no pretense that fashion emerges full blown from the head of one solitary genius". Explaining his clothes, Jacobs has said "what I prefer is that even if someone feels hedonistic, they don’t look it. Curiosity about sex is much more interesting to me than domination. ... My clothes are not hot. Never. Never.".

Comment:after i read the story about Marc jacobs. And i can more confirm that creative can learn from ourself and can get from experience. But if we want to create something new,we can't just follow the our previous step.We can refer the work we done before and try to do some modification on it.Try to look at the diffrent site.

Today,I learn the new thing which is call Novelty, creativity, innovation and invention.Actually the meaning of this few word is quite smiler. But after you understand it you can find out some different in that.

Novelty-Using the new idea or concept to create something new and totally different with the original.

Creativity-Create with the imagination and the new idea might be link with other think

Innovation-Mean the new way of think, revolution of thinking.
For example like last time A can mix with B,but now A can mix with B and C.

Invention-Mean the create of new way to produce something or new way to develop some idea which is already exist.

The activity of class

Today after the lecturer finish the he lecture in the class and he assign us an activity. The question of the activity he give us is find some picture form the magazine that we brought to represent the some characters. The three major characters he gives us are:

Mr Bill Gate

Google Brother( Larry Page and Sergey Brin)

The character that I choose for this activity is Mr Bill Gate

The purpose our lecturer assigns us to do this activity is because of to let us get us for explore our idea form 1 small object or maybe two. Actually is quite useful for use especially when we face lack of idea. Without this technique I think that is quite hard for us when do some design.

This the work i done for this actvite: Bill=Bill Gate=the gate (hahahaha)

Mind mapping

This week the lecturers teach us about mind mapping. What I been learn after the class is:

Mind mapping is a diagram or pictures to allow us to explore the idea. And mind mapping have two types. Logic map and Association map.

Logic map is the map that need logic during you create or come out the idea. So you can’t simple add in the idea which is not suitable or not logic.

Association map is the map that you can add in the idea if you able to come out form your mind. Is it not right or wrong. Even the idea has not relationship with the topic.

And lecturers also show us some example during the class. It is quite easy to understand if sir and madam provide us some example during class.

Creative study class.

This week, the lecturer had been announces to create a blog for the assignment of creative study. The purpose of create the blog is to record down what we had learn in every class and comment of us after we finish the class.

What we learn today is find out an image or object to represent my friend. Before this, we have to interview our own partner and ask him many questions about himself. Those questions I ask is to know more he background and only I can come out some image or object which can define or represent him.
Below is the question I asked him during the activity in the class:

-He likes to sleep if don’t have any work to do
-Like to communicate with other (make friend) But seldom face to face except they know each other quite long time.
-Like to eat (food enthusiast)
-like to surf net
-like to gather with friend

After, I got the information from him. The only image I come out form my brain is “computer”
Why computer can represent him because of he said he like to sleep if don’t have any work to do= Of course we never use the computer if we do need it. Like to communicate with other=the computer always has to exchange the date form the server or other computer. Like to eat=The computer need some data if they don’t have the internet to exchange the data so the only can let it exchange the data with other is using some device can store data for example disk and discard. Like to surf net=he said he like to surf net mean he like to upgrade he personal information and internet is the only way can satisfy he required.

Conclusion What I had learn after finish this activity is use many information that we can get form beside of use to convert it to some idea we need. Find out two object which have similar part of it and you can find out a lot of idea form there.

creativity definition

Creativity is a mental and social process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts. An alternative conception of creativness is that it is simply the act of making something new.

From a scientific point of view, the products of creative thought (sometimes referred to as divergent thought) are usually considered to have both originality and appropriateness.

Although intuitively a simple phenomenon, it is in fact quite complex. It has been studied from the perspectives of behavioural psychology, social psychology, psychometrics, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, philosophy, history, economics, design research, business, and management, among others. The studies have covered everyday creativity, exceptional creativity and even artificial creativity. Unlike many phenomena in science, there is no single, authoritative perspective or definition of creativity. And unlike many phenomena in psychology, there is no standardized measurement technique.

Creativity has been attributed variously to divine intervention, cognitive processes, the social environment, personality traits, and chance ("accident", "serendipity"). It has been associated with genius, mental illness and humour. Some say it is a trait we are born with; others say it can be taught with the application of simple techniques. Creativity has also been viewed as a beneficence of a muse or Muses.

Although popularly associated with art and literature, it is also an essential part of innovation and invention and is important in professions such as business, economics, architecture, industrial design, science and engineering.

Despite, or perhaps because of, the ambiguity and multi-dimensional nature of creativity, entire industries have been spawned from the pursuit of creative ideas and the development of creativity techniques.
Leonardo Da Vinci is well known for his creative works.

Creativity has been associated with right or forehead brain activity or even specifically with lateral thinking.

Some students of creativity have emphasized an element of chance in the creative process. Linus Pauling, asked at a public lecture how one creates scientific theories, replied that one must endeavor to come up with many ideas — then discard the useless ones.

Another adequate definition of creativity is that it is an "assumptions-breaking process." Creative ideas are often generated when one discards preconceived assumptions and attempts a new approach or method that might seem to others unthinkable.

comment:This is the definition that i study after i join the creativity class. After i read this article i can more confirm that creative is very important for human.Because without the creativity mind people will get boring soon with everything they have. For example if the business man want to attract people to consume he old product ,maybe he can just do some modify in the outlook of the product,If the consumer like the product that the sale rate of the product will increase with easy.So creative is very important for human.
